MARGAO: Even as residents of Chandor hailed Yuri Alemao for getting the State Highway 8 passing through their village de-notified, Yuri announced that he would join the Goa Forward Party on August 26, exactly two months after he had placed the State Highway issue before TCP Minister Vijai Sardessai.
Briefing media persons Yuri said he was thankful to Vijai Sardessai for taking away the State Highway from the heritage village of Chandor which was the first capital of Goa. “I had placed the people’s issue before Vijai on June 26 and impressed upon him how the highway would destroy the heritage houses in the village,” he said.
Terming the present Cuncolim MLA as a dismal failure, he accused him of dividing the people of the constituency and added that he was only indulging in “tamasha”.
