VASCO: Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd shutdown its urea plant at Zuarinagar after officials noticed a leakage in the compressor between the urea and ammonia plants.
The leak was noticed on Friday afternoon after which company management decided to shut down the urea plant. Sources said the repairs would take four to five days.
“The urea plant has been shut due to some technical errors, however, we will cover up our production to meet up to the annual quota by curtailing the annual shutdown by five to six days,” a company official told Herald.
He said that though the urea plant has been shutdown, NPK-1 and NPK-2 plants that manufacture phosphatic and complex fertilizers are operating.
The manufacturing facility comprises three separate plants – the urea, NPK-1 and NPK-2 – and the facility has an annual installed capacity of 11,00,000 metric tonnes of fertilizers.
