PANJIM: History-sheeter Zenito Cardozo was arrested on Friday in connection with an abduction case registered at Panjim Police Station, few days after the St Cruz shootout occurred in June.
Cardozo, who had surrendered before the police on August 12, in the St Cruz incident, was sent to judicial custody on Thursday soon after which the Panjim Police arrested him in the abduction case.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Panjim remanded him to four days police custody. He has been lodged in the lock up, located on the ground floor at Police Headquarters.
The JMFC had earlier rejected his anticipatory bail plea in the case even as his counsel refuted allegations claiming Cardozo is being falsely implicated in the case.
The FIR pertains to abduction of a local in a property related matter.
The complainant had claimed that he was abducted in a car at Taleigao and was threatened before Cardozo and his gang, released him soon thereafter.
