PANJIM: History-sheeter Zenito Cardozo will on Tuesday be produced before the District & Sessions Court as his five-day police custody, in the St Cruz shootout incident, ends.
Police’s search for Cardozo came to an end when he surrendered himself before the Sub-Divisional Police Officer at police head quarters on August 12. A prime conspirator in the deadly attack, Cardozo evaded arrest for nearly two months since the registration of the offence.
Sources said the Old Goa Police will seek for extended police custody even as the accused has already moved the court seeking conditional bail.
In another case, Cardozo’s anticipatory bail in an abduction case is being heard before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC). During the hearing on Monday, his counsel refuted allegations claiming Cardozo is being falsely implicated in the case. The FIR pertains to abduction of a local in a property matter in June. The complainant was abducted in a car at Taleigao, threatened and released soon thereafter. The police had sought for his arrest in the case.
