PANJIM: For the first time in nearly four months, there were no Covid deaths reported in the last 24 hours ending Monday evening.

For the last three and a half months, Directorate of Health Services (DHS) has been reporting a high number of deaths on a daily basis with peaks in April and May. Even after the daily number of Covid cases started to drop in June, the steady number of deaths per day was quite alarming for the public. The last time, the State reported zero deaths was on March 22, 2021.

On Monday, 108 new Covid cases were detected from the 3018 samples tested. The daily test positivity rate is now at 3.46 per cent. On Monday 19 patients were hospitalised while 23 persons were discharged from private hospitals, and 89 persons were placed under home isolation. The recovery rate is at 97.12 per cent with 186 persons having recovered in the last 24 hours.
