PORVORIM: A house owned by former Zilla Panchayat member Vaishali Satardekar from Porvorim Tisk caught fire on Monday afternoon.
According to the sources, the police control room received call at around 1.15 pm informing about the fire.
Immediately, a team of Mapusa Fire Station rushed to the spot and started putting of the fire. However, by the time, the house was already at blaze.
Sources informed that in the fire, electrical equipment such as two air conditioning units, television set, refrigerator, kitchen utensils, ceiling fans, house ceiling, clothes gutted while incurring loss over Rs three lakh.
Fire station sources informed that the cause of fire was short circuit. However, the fire station will be writing to the Electricity Department to ascertain the exact cause of fire.
A vehicle of Pilerne Fire Station was also pressed to get the fire under control.
Meanwhile, local MLA Rohan Khaunte, DySp Edwin Colaso had also visited the spot.
