MARGAO: Serpentine queues of vehicles were witnessed on both sides of the Zuari Bridge as motorists from Margao and Vasco enroute to Panjim and vice versa had no clue of the closure of the Zuari Bridge for inspection scheduled from 6 am to 9 am.
Matters were made worse due to heavy rains during the period and vehicles were seen waiting for almost two to three hours due to lack of prior information as the alternate route through Ponda was considered too long.
Considering the suspected poor condition of the bridge, people feel that the proposed work on the second Zuari Bridge should be expedited as Zuari Bridge serves as the lifeline between North and South Goa.
