MARGAO: The Colva gram sabha on Sunday voiced its opposition to mobile towers in residential areas.
The members said, “Out of the five mobile tower locations suggested, the gram sabha has approved only two and that too in non-residential areas.”
The mobile tower issue was the single-point agenda at the meeting and the gram sabha members strongly opposed mobile towers in residential areas.
The two mobile towers for which the gram sabha has given its nod are near Baywatch Resort and near the Fisheries department, which are non-residential areas.
The September 11 extraordinary gram sabha on the mobile tower issue had been adjourned to September 25. Officials of various govt agencies including BSNL were present and they explained to the people the necessity of having more towers in the village.
