Vasco: Zuarinagar locals on Wednesday night caught a person named Ravi from Karnataka who arrived on a truck transporting vegetables. He was handed over to the Verna police who referred him to Chicalim Cottage hospital where he was reportedly checked and was asked to come back after 14 days for a check up. But surprising he was allowed to leave the hospital without a quarantine stamp. Later on Thursday evening, the Verna police sent him to Margao Residency to be quarantined.
Ravi revealed that he entered through the Molem check post and was allowed to enter as he is a cleaner. However, before allowing him to enter into the State, his licence was checked and sanitised.
Ram Yadav, a local from Zuarinagar expressed surprise as to how people are allowed to enter the State and why no action is being taken against them. “Such an incidence sends wrong message to others therefore it is necessary to take strict action in such cases,” he said.
When contacted Sancoale Village Panchayat panch, Ramakant Borker said the increasing number of labour influx will turn Zuarinagar into Goa’s Dharavi.
He further said, “Some people come through check posts and this creates unnecessary issues. If the state government does not take any action than in the near future Zuarinagar will become another Dharavi,” he added.
