91.2 per cent turnout in Pernem

PERNEM: The municipal council elections in Pernem, which passed off peacefully on Saturday, witnessed a 91.2 per cent voter turnout.
Earlier during the day, voting was moderate in the first few hours. However, after 11am voting gained momentum with the several youth, many of whom were first time voters, moving out to exercise their franchise.
Besides the youth, women and senior citizens also exercised their franchise.
All the three polling stations in Pernem followed the standard operating procedures (SOPs) by ensuring social distancing, use of face masks and hand sanitisers.
