A mixed bag of melody

Anthony Marques’s third audio album ‘Dusream Pasot Vavrat’ carries 14 songs on varied social and religious themes. It has been released in aid of an orphanage in Colva.
The title song ‘Dusream Pasot Vavrat’ by Anthony Marques speaks about being kind towards others and the reward that’s awaited in return. The singer shares his personal experience wherein during his stay in London he had the opportunity to reflect on the sixth station. He also throws light on Mother Teresa and her charitable works. He mentions that on account of selfish motives, man fails to recognise others. He concludes that Mother Teresa invites all to serve others.
The next song, ‘Monisponnank Bill Nam’ by Rosario de Benaulim, throws light on humanness and reveals the incident in life of Akilesh Kumar from Kerala, an engineer by profession. While eating food at a restaurant, he encounters two hungry children, whom he serves food out of generosity. Noting his generosity towards those kids, the owner of the restaurant refuses to accept the payment of the bill. ‘If you spot the hungry, serve them because you will find God in them,’ he concludes.
‘Zannam Zaun Uloy’, a song by Andrew and Andrea, speaks about a blind child and his journey with his guardians in the train. The interpretation of the passengers for the endless queries made by the child irks the parents. But when the truth is revealed, everyone is left speechless.
Another solo by Lorna is a pure expression of grief over betrayal of love. She laments on those moments shared together and the promise made at a particular spot. The singer does not curse her lover, but instead, cautions him not to repeat history with the one who has crossed his path.
Songs ‘Konkani Uloi Konkani’ by Roque Vaz and ‘Music’ by Ruzai, Jesba and Andrea highlight the importance of Konkani and music in our daily life. The former reveals that usage of mother tongue will help preserve it for posterity. The latter focuses on memorable songs and music of legends like Chris Perry. A query is made as to why he was not rewarded with the best musician award.
A mention is also made of tiatrs and the musicians that help Goan art to prosper.
‘Muneari’, a song by Joiclin and Victor, focuses on the role of a priest and his ministry. He administers various sacraments and his presence is important in one’s life. While making a mention of a priest who was killed in France, the singer also takes note of the last words of the dying priest.
The album has good noted singers like Lorna, Rosario de Benaulim, Joao de Zuari and others and Framton de Sa has provided soothing music to all the songs. But variety in the form of duos, duets or trios would have made a big difference.
