Edel Rebello’s first audio CD, ‘Amizad’, has a collection of 15 songs rendered in the form of solos, duets, duos and a trio.
The title song, ‘Amizad’ by Cajetan and Edel highlights the importance of true friendship. They relate a story of two friends who were separated by the enemy. They further explain that it takes time for true friendship to develop. Hats off to those friends who stand by each other despite all storms in life, they sign off.
The following solo, ‘Zero’ by Antonette, speaks about goodness in all human beings. She supports her stance with an incident of a school child who was considered good for nothing. But when he participated in a drawing contest and won a prize, everyone was taken by surprise. The judges explain the intention of rewarding this child without hope. We are all God’s creatures; never underestimate others is her wise advice.
‘WhatsApp’ is a solo by Lawry that throws light on the adverse effects of latest technology. This world has progressed with TV, laptops and mobiles. The intellectuals created them for a good purpose, but the learned have misused them, he says. He speaks about a message on his mobile and his irritation thereafter.
Two duets, ‘Ghovachem Ghor’ and ‘Uzo Pettla’ by Edel/Valency and Edel/Linette respectively, reflect on two different subjects. The former is all about regrets for tying the knot with a drunkard husband and the latter is a tale of love birds, true love and sweet nothings.
Two solos, ‘Nirmonn’ by Prince Jacob and ‘Dev Podvedar’ by Jr Reagan, speak about two different tragedies in life. The latter also highlights the mighty power of God and importance of faith in prayer for blessings to follow.
‘Oh Mai’, a solo by comedian Richard, is rendered in a humorous vein, with focus on his ailing bedridden mother and non cooperation from his spouse. He also speaks about his father who assisted him with all necessities, despite soaring prices.
‘Dog Montri Gantti’, a trio by Mini Mario/Cajetan/Saby, throws light on the hardships faced by the tiatrists of yesteryears and how they toiled to safeguard the Konkani language. Tiatrists like Lucasinho Ribeiro, Kid Boxer slashed the ruling government for their misdeeds. Despite ban on Muthalik’s entry in Goa, they reveal that there are two ministers who are supporting them.
Other songs in the album have a theme and message to conclude. This album is a complete package with a variety of songs. Interludes with violin by Victor da Costa, trumpet by James Fernandes and lead guitar by Victor Fernandes enhance the album still further.
With recording at Lens Studio, Sirlim, Lenoy Gomendes has provided music for all the songs. A good attempt by upcoming tiatrist Edel.
