Highlighting social issues through devotion

Anthony Caiado’s first Konkani audio album, ‘Dev Polleta’, has a treasure of 12 songs rendered in the form of solos, duets and a trio by popular singers of the Konkani stage.

The title song, ‘Dev Polleta’ by Anthony Caiado, brings to the fore the trials and tribulations he and his siblings faced since childhood. Amidst all the tempests, he believes that God views everything from above and rewards the just and the upright.
The next song, ‘Hanv Veginch Ietam’ by Rosario de Benaulim, speaks about the second coming of Jesus Christ and he urges the listener to stay prepared for it.
In duets ‘Mogachi Maim’ and ‘Bhav-bhoinn’ by Antonette de Maina/Victor and Bushka/Reginald respectively, the lasting relations in a family are highlighted.
Solos ‘Magnneache Hath’ by Roseferns and ‘Vizmith’ by Anthony Caiado have interesting tales to relate, with powerful messages on friendship and faith.
‘Chimtte Eta’ by Anthony Caiado throws light on the faulty judicial system prevalent in our country and the faltering laws that safeguard only the politicians and the police force.
A couple of solos by Rosario de Benaulim, Reginald de Panchwadi and Joao Caiado call for deep thought and reflection on the Holy Bible and its relevance today.
‘Kalvim Ghodnim’, the sole trio in the album, by Rosario/Victor/Tari, highlights the gruesome tragedy at Aldona some years back, wherein several innocent students faced untimely death.
The album has scintillating music by Anthony de Velim with James Vaz on the keyboard, Chris Correia on rhythm/lead, Sergie on bass, Anthony de Velim on trumpet and John de Madel on drums. But a duo and choral would have added charm and provided a complete entertainer.
