Sources in the NIA said that unbelievable number of 2 crore (yes 2,00,00,000) mobile phone connection were tracked to solve the rationalist Govind Pansere’s murder mystery. Pansare was murdered this year in February, allegedly killed by Samir Gaikwad from Sangli, who is a Sanatan volunteer.
NIA has traced Samir after they verified the call recordings wherein Samir was speaking about the murder of Pansare to a lady named Jyothi Kamble, who is also a volunteer of Sanatan and very close to Samir.
NIA has also detained Jyothi and her statement recorded under section 164 CrPC.
During the course of interrogation the links of Samir with Rudra Patil were established. However, NIA was not able to trace him, though Rudra is on the NIA radar since 2009, after the Margao blast where his links were established as one of the conspirators.
NIA has seized two mobile phones from Samir, one laptop and 23 cell phones from his house. NIA is presently compiling the data and verifying the facts.
Samir was running the mobile shop in Sangli town. It was revealed that the shop was in partnership with Rudra but since 2009 Samir was managing the shop after Rudra went missing.
