I DON’T COME FROM AN ORDINARY FAMILY TO BE INVOLVED IN HARVESTER SCAM: REGINALDO

The burly Congress survivor Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco fends off Mickky’s allegations saying Pacheco is having a proxy war with him, and is threatened by his opponent who is turning out to be a challenge in Nuvem. He also told Herald that as a people’s representative, when people oppose a project he has to be with them.

Herald: You are being accused of involvement in a harvester scam. What are your reactions to these allegations? Reginaldo: I am the only MLA in Goa who looks after five harvesters. All the other BJP MLAs especially in the mining belt have invested in mining equipment. (Nilesh) Cabral for example is still operating wheel loaders at a railway station. The first time I took the harvester to Parsekar’s constituency, I took it there for free. I did not even charge for transport. I don’t know what they think. Reginaldo does not come from any ordinary family to make money from harvesters. I look after 15 power tillers and three tractors. And I have given them out for free for the past three years. All this I have done without taking even one rupee from the government.
Mickky is probably targeting me because of Wilfred de Sa, his opponent. He has been doing yeoman service and Mickky is worried. Herald: You are being accused of being a part of the underfire Curtorim hotel project. What do you have to say to that? Reginaldo: The land that is in question was given an NOC for development of plots. I had given a letter for land
acquisition for a road. This land acquisition has not even taken place. I challenge anybody to prove that there has been any letter given for the project. If the people do not want, should I not
oppose the project? We are
elected representatives and
should do what the
people want.
