Music with a divine message

As Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, Paroda celebrates 200 years of existence, Franky Paroda’s audio album ‘200 Vorsam Bhavartachim’ carries 12 songs on varied religious themes, mostly in the form of solos and choral.
The opening song ‘200 Vorsam Bhavartachim’ by Fr Benny D’Costa is a reflection on faith shared and strengthened by several priests who served their flock in the parish of Paroda. They were instrumental in helping the faithful to become close followers of Christ, he says. He also makes a mention of the fruits of faith that grew in the parish among the parishioners and how it spread in other villages. The brethren of Paroda will help to flourish and grow in deep faith, he concludes.
The next song, ‘Devak Vakhannum-ia’ by Trudy Luis, is another song of praise that throws light on the creation, how God, through his unceasing love, sent His only son to the world, who, to fulfil his father’s will, died on the cross. It also speaks about creation of plants, blooming of flowers and fruits. With the creation of trees, creatures in the wild rejoice, she says. She also mentions about creation of light through God’s word and the formation of day and night. Let’s thank God and recalling His goodness, let’s praise Him always, she concludes.
Two songs in the album ‘Saibinnicheo Dukhi’ and ‘Saibinn Maim’ by Franky Paroda and Fr Lauzerio Godinho respectively are tributes to Mother Mary. The former reflects on the sufferings of Christ on the cross. It also throws light on the suffering of Mother Mary at the foot of the cross. Both the songs make a mention of those who disbelieve and disrespect Mother Mary and the singer in the latter song prays for grace to enlighten the minds of the faithful, who have gone astray.
“Karat jai jai kar’, a solo by Fr Agnelo Rodrigues, is rendered in the form of a bhajan, singing praises of the Almighty. It speaks about the creation of the world and its movement by His power. It is through His love that mankind enjoys liberation and freedom, the singer says. But if the ‘tabla’ instrument was introduced in the song, its richness would have been enhanced.
‘Devachi rochnna’, a song by Rakhee and Franky Paroda, highlights the services rendered through various parts of the body. A mention is made about the eyes, ears, hands and legs and how these organs can help in the salvation of man.
The song ‘Jezuche Pattlavdar’ by George, Abigail and others speak about followers of Christ like St Mother Teresa, St Joseph Vaz and St Francis Xavier. It portrays a vivid picture of the works carried out by the missionaries. ‘Sao Joao’ a solo by Fr Rolland Lin makes a mention of St John the Baptist, his birth, mission and death. ‘Let us give vices and be true followers of Christ like the saint,’ he concludes.
‘Christacho Mog’, another solo, dwells upon the theme ‘Christ’s love urges us on’ and the following song ‘Jezuche Koxtt’ by Fr Urbano Fernandes is a reflection on the passion of Christ, with focus on Judas, who betrayed Jesus for 30 silver coins, Simon who assisted Jesus to carry the cross to Calvary and Mother Mary’s role in our salvation.
The album has music, recording and editing by Filipe Baretto, and was released in Holy Land Jerusalem.
