Musical mix dedicated to Alfred Rose

Milagres D’Souza’s first audio CD, ‘Palkacho Kunvor’, is a tribute to Goa’s melody king Alfred Rose and has a rich collection of 14 songs, which includes a mando.
The title song, ‘Palkacho Kunvor’, rendered by Sonia Shirsat in her melodious voice, praises the pillar of the Konkani stage. Hailing from Aldona, she says nobody can value the contribution made by Alfred Rose through his countless songs. “His presence in tiatrs would prompt the spectators to throng the auditoriums. May his soul rest in peace,” she concludes.
The following song, ‘Rogtachem Toem’ by Aniceto, speaks about the present state of Goa. Peace and happiness prevailed during the ancestral era. Migration of non-Goans, greed for money has prompted Goans to sell their fields and properties. While appealing to the government to work for the development of state, he says Goans should not sell ‘goykarponn’ in the market.
Two songs in the album, a duet ‘Bhagintlem Ful’ by Sharmila/Neville and a solo ‘Raza Rani’ by Neville, speak about relations between lovers.
Bushka, in her inimitable style, throws light on God’s creation in ‘Sobit Sonvsar’ and reveals its destruction due to sin. She also mentions about the Redeemer who died on the cross for our salvation. Good deeds will lead you to heaven, she concludes.
Songs ‘Custom Officer’ by Young Chico, ‘Serkari Officer’ by Sonia/Anthony San and ‘Montri’ by Anthony San highlight the role and malpractices of different people in authority.
‘Aicho Somaz’, a duet by Rita Rose and Anthony San, speaks about relations at home, neighbourhood and friends. ‘Mavodo’, a duo by Jr Chico and Salvador, is an interesting tale of father-in-law and son-in-law.
‘Ugdass’ a solo rendered by Johnny B. Gud brings to mind memories of legends like Elvis Presley and Jim Reeves. Popular songs of those noted singers make this solo appealing. The concluding two songs, ’25 Vorsam’, which is a choral and ‘Jurament’ which is a mando, are apt for special social occasions. Besides solos, duets, duo and choral, introduction of a trio would make this album a complete entertainer.
The album, recorded at Accoustica Studio, Arpora, has been produced by Milagres D’Souza and recorded with music by Neville Pereira.
