Soon after the Appropriate Authority Committee (AA) submitted their inspection report denying permission to Manipal Hospital to conduct organ transplantation of kidney, the applicant hospital submitted its compliance report to the government of Goa claiming to have all the necessary arrangements for conducting the transplant procedure.
“Full time Nephrologists is always available on all days at Manipal Hospital and transplant surgeons in urology department has all the necessary certificates of training in Kidney transplant” says the compliance report submitted by Manipal hospital, copy of which has been availed by this paper under RTI.
Further, referring to the inspection report which says that the hospital lacks anaesthesiologist experience for recipient transplant surgery and organ retrieval, the applicant hospital in its compliance report informed that the doctor available at their hospital had the necessary transplant training programme experience, while also revealing that full-time experienced senior anaesthesiologist are indeed available at Manipal hospital.
“Adequate and qualified doctors are available round-the-clock with the consultants andf intensivits managing more complex surgical cases, including open-heart and oncology surgeries. Also the hospital is having trained nursing staff with significant experience to handle kidney transplant program at the hospital,” says the compliance report referring to the points mentioned in the inspection report by the Appropriate Authority Committee.
The compliance report also states that 24×7 round the clock post operative care is provided by a team of experienced intensivits, while also revealing that the dialysis centre at Manipal hospital has full-time designated MBBS RMO doctor.Meanwhile, the report referring to the inspection report also clarifies that the applicant hospital does have a dedicated vascular set which is available in the OT while informing that the nurses have adequate experience to handle pre and post kidney transplant cases.
“HLA typing and lymphocyte cross matching facilities are not required at the hospital itself and currently the hospital has tied up with Lal path labs and Manipal hospitals, Bangalore” says the compliance report.
