Some 30 years ago, the land of Subashchandra Bose ground at Bandora where youths used to play, was acquired for KTC bus stand. Bus this bus stand is in shambles and even the vendors complain of poor business.
According to former Bandora Sarpanch Rajesh Naik, the government has neglected the maintenance of KTC bus stand for past 30 years due to which its roof and bus bay roads are now in bad condition. There are about 20 shops in the premises but they are facing losses due to poor condition of bus stand. In recent times some private bus operators avoid visiting bus stand and pick up passengers from main road.
The entry and exit roads are also in worst condition and there are no proper streetlights. This bus stand needs urgent attention of the authorities.
After portion of the roof collapsed on two different occasions, the government last year declared roof of the bus stand unsafe for use of passengers and decide to repair it at an estimated cost of Rs one crore. However, the work appears to be abandoned since last four months. In the process the commuters are forced to stand in scorching sun.
