Neither his parents nor his relatives and friends have seen him since October 2009 after his name was linked to the Margao blast of October 16, 2009.
Rudra Patil, who is on radar of NIA, Delhi ATS and many other agencies investigating the case since October 2009, has succeeded in giving them all a miss despite red corner notices issued against him.
Rudra had visited Goa once before blast and once after the blast to claim the body of Malgonda Patil, who succumbed to his injuries in the Margao blast while planting the IED.
According to Goa Police sources, Rudra had come to take Malgonda’s body as he was his cousin.
But when body was later handed over to the family, Rudra did not come as his involvement in the blast had been revealed by then and that was reason why he stayed away fearing arrest.
Since then nobody knows where Rudra is. Even the fact that Rudra has recced the area where Govind Pansare was living in Kolhapur and was killed in February this year, no agency is able to trace him so far.
It was during Gaikwad’s interrogation, he was arrested by the NIA and presently in judicial custody in Kolhapur, that he revealed that Rudra was the mastermind behind the murder.
According to charge sheet which was filed by NIA in Margao blast, Rudra is the mastermind of the blast and had brought the explosives in Goa and delivered it to his cousin and others and successfully tested at hillock in Ponda.
During his stay at Sanatan and in other places at Goa, Rudra learnt to speak Konkani.
Till December 2009, the Special Investigation Team constituted by Goa Police initially investigated the case whereas since December 9, 2009 Ministry of Home Affairs directed NIA to take over the case.
