Principal Dr. Vaman Naik needs to be complimented for the recent release of his book “English-Konkani-Synonyms and Antonyms Dictionary”, which was released recently at the hands of Raju Naik, Editor, Lokmat, and presided over by Suresh Amonkar, Chairman Konkani Academy amongst others. Till now several Konkani dictionaries has been published. But this one is more important at it is a dictionary as well as thesaurus. The work is done in a simplified way considering the interest of the readers.
Dr. Naik said that as a student of a school and initial years of college education, he used to refer a dictionary of synonyms and antonyms in English, which helped him to improve his writing skills and know the meaning of basic words in English. This encouraged him to bring out a dictionary in Konkani.
Much larger dictionaries and thesaurus are available but they often confuse the user by providing a long list of complicated and often rare words.
