PANJIM: The Residential Coaching Camp for the Elite Goan Athletic probable’s organised by the Sports Authority of Goa in collaboration with the Goa Athletic Association took off on a high note last week at Peddem Sports Complex.
A selection trial was conducted on February 5, wherein the 15 best athletes in the state were shortlisted by an expert committee out of 75 athletes that reported for the trials.
The Athletes undergoing the coaching camp are Kaisiya Fernandes (100m) , Priyaksha Gaude (400m), Alister Dsouza (100m), Sahil Naik (Shot put /Javelin), Teddy Cardozo( 5000m) , Saifur Mondal (100m), Sunil Renati (Long Jump), Anthony Faleiro(100m), Aslam Shaikh (High Jump), Anantha Krishnan (Long Jump), Vaibhav Naik (800m), Agnelo Peixoto (Long Jump), Vijay Vishwakarma (20km walk) and Hrutvej Parab (400m Hurdles).
Senior SAI coach Dr Wazir Singh Phogat from Sonipat and Chief coach attached with the Indian Youth Athletic Team and will provide coaching expertise to the 15 best Goan athletes undergoing the camp.
The Residential Coaching Camp is a part of the joint endeavour of the Sports Authority of Goa and the Goa Athletic Association to develop Athletics in the state.
