275 cyclists complete Xaxti endurance cycle ride

COLVA: A total of 275 cyclists from across Goa and from other states successfully completed the 4th Xaxti-100 km and Xaxti-50 km endurance cycle ride held in South Goa on Sunday. The finishers’ list included 40 cyclists below the age of 18 and 36 women cyclists.
The ride was flagged off by ace endurance cyclist, Venuvardhan Reddy at 6.45 a.m. from the Ravindra Bhavan Margao. Reddy is the only Goa-based cyclist to have recently completed the popular, Paris-Brest-Paris 1200 km cycle ride earlier this year.
The cyclists took the Margao-Curtorim-Rivona-Caurem-Betul-Cavellosim-Colva-Margao route of 100 kms. The 50 km ride ended at the Caurem Forest check post, where breakfast was served to all cyclists. The cut-off time for the 100 km ride was six hours and 45 minutes.
The oldest cyclist in this event was 77-year-old, Wing Commander (retd) Ajit Guglani who completed the 100 km ride, while the youngest cyclist was Ronel Gomes aged 8 who completed the 50 km ride.
As a special gesture, the Xaxti Riders Club donated a brand new racing cycle to budding cyclist Pradip Kolhapte of Tilamol.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai who gave away the finishers’ medals to the cyclists praised the Xaxti Riders Club of Margao for promoting the healthy sport of cycling in South Goa.
