PANJIM: GFA received response from 44 players over the show-cause notice for their participation in the unrecognised tournaments held recently.
“44 players have replied and two are still awaited,” revealed GFA President Elvis Gomes stating that the committee will take the call over the next actions.
While many questioned GFA’s action over the suspension of the players for participating in the unregistered tournaments, calling it ‘harsh’, Elvis said, “We have only sought to enforce the rules. It has to be done because we have been doing it all along. It wasn’t getting noticed because the players’ profile was little small. But when high profile player do this, it sends a complete wrong signal that this is accepted and they can get away with it. But nobody can get away with it,” said Elvis.
“I stand by GFA’s action.” Elvis concluded
