PANJIM: Shotokan Karate-do Goa will be organizing their 4th National Karate tournament on August 24 and 25, at Shree Gadge Maharaj Memorial Hall, Porvorim.
Addressing the media at a press conference held at a city hotel, the Shotokan Karate-do Goa panel gave out the details regarding the championship.
Six states will be participating in the championship which include Maharastra, Karnataka, Delhi, Telangana, Assam and Goa.
Around 450 students have registered their name for the championship
The championship will be held in the following categories: U-6, U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16, U-18, U-21 and Above 21 Yrs.
The 12 years and above will be further narrowed down on basis of weight which include below 30 kg, below 35 kg, below 40 kg, below 45 kg, below 50 kg, below 55 kg, below 60 kg, below 65 kg, below 70 kg and above 70 Kg.
All categories are according to color belts like white, yellow and orange, green, blue and purple, brown and black.
The team events will comprise team Kata and team Kumite boys and girls.
The 15 years and above category events will be held on August 24 from 3 p.m. onwards while the 14 years and below category events will begin on August 25 from 9 a.m.
President of Traditional Karate Association of Goa Suraj Caculo will be the chief guest for the function.
