Federation Cup champions, East Bengal continued their winning spree and edged past JCT by a solitary goal to record their fourth straight victory in I-League 2010-11.
Guru Nanak Dev Stadium, Ludhiana witnessed an evenly poised match between the “Pride of the North” JCT and Kolkata giants, East Bengal with Uga Okpara netting the winner for the Trevor Morgan coached side.
East Bengal’s only corner in the first half paved the way for the decider as their Nigerian defender headed home to collect full points to take their tally to 12 points from four matches, while JCT are tottering at the bottom of the table with a point from as many matches.
Air India and ONGC had to settle for a goalless draw at Sahu Maharaj ground on Friday.
