Minister of Home Ravi Naik said that the swimming pool at the sports complex in Ponda, constructed at a cost of Rs 7 crore, will be inaugurated on February 8.
Naik was speaking as a chief guest at the first anniversary of Manzil Mahila Mandal and Self-Help Group at Curti, Ponda yesterday.
Naik highlighted the role of women in Goa and said that women have reached top positions in various sectors. He said that the women should come forward and participate in various socio-economic programmes to avail benefits of the schemes.
The home minister said the Goa Government has constituted the Goa State Commission for Women to improve their status.
Naik said the government was committed to the welfare of common people and stressed the need to create awareness about the people-oriented programmes being implemented for the upliftment of poor and the needy in the society.
