PANJIM: There is a good news for all women in the State as the Goa Football Association announced on Friday that the second edition of the women’s league will be bigger and better in the coming seasons.
“With the success of the first edition, there is a great deal of enthusiasm amongst the girls and taking stakeholders views into consideration, the league will be played at five different venues preferably over weekends, over a period of three months just in time before the Women Nationals,” said GFA President Elvis Gomes.
The five venues shortlisted are — Duler and Sirsaim (SFA) in North and Cuncolim, Navelim, and Don Bosco, Fatorda.
GFA President Elvis Gomes announced a slew of measures that include increasing number of teams from six to eight for the second edition of the GFA Vedanta Women’s League this year.
It is also learnt that the winner of the league shall be entitled to represent in the Women’s I-League.
CEO of Sesa Football Academy, Sukhwinder Singh said that the company is happy to be associated in running the second edition as part of the company’s policy to promote women empowerment.
Presiding over the meeting of stakeholders that included representatives from Vedanta, clubs, and GFA, Gomes said that the league will be played on a double leg basis.
