PANJIM: Defending Champion GVM’s A J De Almeida HS, Ponda, won the 11th SRS Ponda Taluka School Chess Championship tallying nine points at the tournament organized by SRS Vedic Mathematics Academy, Mangeshi, in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) at Wagle HS, Mangeshi.
GVM’s Utkarsh Vidyamandir and IVBD HS scored eight points each. GVM’s Utkarsh Vidyamandir secured the 2nd place based on ie-break and IVBD had to settl for third place.
Dr K B Hedgewar HS, GVM’s MIBK HS and Vidhya Vruddhi School secured fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively. In all, 18 schools participated.
