PANJIM: Football in India is fast growing! Ever since the rise of Indian Super League, the Indian football world has seen a positive change. Frankly, the leagues are more organised while the clubs are structured professionally, a sight which was rare earlier.
But now this is more of a regular practice across all the clubs. The clubs are seeking qualified professionals capable of managing various club roles.
Gone are the days where individuals ran the operations. There is a shift in club structures and it’s clearly visible how the ISL clubs are operating and functioning. This professionalism not only helped the club function in a better way, but more importantly generated jobs for many football enthusiasts.
Stressing on a need to bring such change across all levels, GFA President Churchill Alemao said “There must be a paradigm shift in football management. It will give a structural insight into governance of world football as laid down by FIFA, AFC, in time with the best practices across the world,” stated Alemao, who himself is the patron of Churchill Brothers FC Goa, who are currently at the top of the I-league table.
In a time where football is seen as a biggest sports industry, the All India Football Federation’s latest initiative will be a guide and helping hand for those seeking careers in the footballing industry.
“This is the best opportunity for those looking to pursue their careers in football and this is the best opportunity for everyone,” stated GFA General Secretary Jovito Lopes, as the State association will be conducting an informative session on AIFF’s masters football management programme at Duler Stadium, on March 4.
“This programme will enhance the skills to professionally manage and work with a football club as our clubs in the state need a fresh young mind to run and achieve success,” stated Lopes who added that it will help the Association president Churchill Alemao’s intention to bring professionalism in the club structuring and management.
The 52-week long programme hands-on experiential training on every aspect of football in India and abroad through live tournament exposure, match staging, clubs and team management, data management and analysis, leadership and project management skills, contractual and legal obligations, sponsorship marketing and business communication.
“There are job profiles across ISL, I-League, State FA’s and the AIFF has done best to help the youth. This programme will hand practical experience to the participants,” expressed Lopes.
Football in Goa is slowly growing and the Secretary believes there is lot of scope for the clubs to further enhance their ways of functioning for a better environment.
“Our clubs need to adopt contemporary cutting-edge strategies and techniques in planning, research etc. Above all those key aspects which are paramount for the growth of the game in the right spirit with the right direction,” he added.
The launch session of the football course is open to aspiring candidates who may report along with their parents if they so desire at the venue. Prior registration to attend the session is necessary with the GFA Secretariat in Panjim upto 12 noon on March 4.
