PANJIM: A-Square, Gaurs FC advanced in the 1st Aisao Cup futsal tournament, organised by the Batista Family Majorda in memory of Assuncao (Aisao) Batista, Don Bosco Oratory, Panjim, on Friday.
In the first round, A-Square got the better of GV Saints 3-1 while Gaurs FC edged past Red Devils.
A-Square attacked from the word go and scored first through Kanak Naik. But GV Saints got back instantly in the game capitalising on the A-Square defender lapse and Kunal made it all square. The first half score remained 1-1.
In the second half, GV Saints started brightly and almost went ahead only to be denied by the strong goalkeeping of Anthony.
In the final stages of the match, Viraj of A-Square surged ahead and scored with a right foot shot which had no answer from the rival keeper. Minutes later, Viraj completed his brace to take the final score to 3-1.
In the second game, Red Devils were way better in their game against Gaurs FC but an own goal blunder by Clifon cost them the game as they went down 1-0 in the game.
In another match Ritu Boys scored fluent 3-1 win over Jagbai boys.
