PANJIM: Aaron Farias and Gargi Saikia claimed double titles each, winning the Under-17 and Under-19 boys singles and Under-15 and Under-19 girls singles titles respectively in 7th YMCA State Table Tennis Ranking Tournament organized by YMCA in collaboration with Goa Table Tennis Association which concluded at Campal stadium, here, Sunday.
Arvind Kumar G and Samaira Soares emerged men’s and women’s singles champions, respectively.
The U-11 boys final witnessed an intense showdown between Yug Prabhu and Ruhaan Shaikh, culminating in a thrilling 3-0 victory (11-8, 11-5, 11-6) for Yug.
Bretnia Laishram emerged victorious in a closely fought contest against Aayushi Amonkar, securing a 3-2 win (8-11, 11-6, 12-14, 11-3, 11-9) to claim the girls U-11 title.
In the U-13 boys, Chandan Caro demonstrated great resilience to defeat Dhruva Kamat in a gripping match that ended 3-2 (11-7, 11-4, 3-11, 8-11, 11-5).
Ishita Colaco showcased her skills and emerged triumphant in the U-13 Girls section defeating Yogita with a 3-1 victory (11-8, 5-11, 11-6, 11-8).
The U-15 boys witnessed a thrilling battle between Adeetya Bora and Divyansh Kashyap, with Adeetya emerging winner 3-2 (11-8, 4-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-5). Gargi Saikia dominated the court in the U-15 girls, defeating Pratigya L 3-0 (11-6, 11-4, 11-8).
Aaron continued to display his talent and emerged as champion in boys U-17 finals with a 3-1 victory (11-7, 12-10, 10-12, 11-3) over Divyansh Kashyap. In the girls U-17 finals, Pratigya L showcased her composure to overcome Anushri Naik 3-2 (11-9, 11-13, 11-8, 8-11, 13-11).
In U-19 boys, Aaron secured another impressive upset victory, his second successive one over top seed Anshuman Agarwal 3-1 (12-10, 11-9, 8-11, 11-5). In the U-19 girls division, Gargi Saikia emerged triumphant with a 3-1 victory (11-5, 11-7, 8-11, 11-6) over Danishta Saikia.
Samaira won the women’s title defeating Urvi Surlakar 3-0 (11-6, 11-9, 11-8).
The highlight of the tournament was the intense battle in men’s finals between Arvind and Aaron, with Arvind ultimately winner in a thrilling 4-3 encounter (11-6, 9-11, 11-6, 8-11, 6-11, 11-7, 12-10).
