PANJIM: Aarush Pawaskar, Rishi Pai Khot, Ritika Chelluri, Sagun Singh, Harsh Mane, Shaheen C.K, Aarohi Coutoncar and Yash Desai were among the seeds who progressed into the quarter-finals into Sub Junior (U13 /15 /17 categories) of the ongoing State Badminton Ranking tournament at Manohar Parrikar Indoor stadium, Navelim.
In the U-13 boys singles pre quarters, top seed Aarush Pawaskar defeated Arnav Kochrekar 15-2, 15-5 while Rishi Pai Khot, seeded 2, eased past Rehan Hassan winning 15-1, 15-6.
In the U-13 girls section, Ritika Chelluri (1) cruised to a 15-3, 15-2 win over Niharika Pawar in the round of 16, while Sagun Singh (2) defeated Kruti Bakhale 15-3, 15-2.
In the U-15 boys pre quarters , Harsh Mane (1) who had won triple crown in the last tournament recorded a facile 15-2, 15-1 win over Aarav Dumatkar. His Margao compatriot Shaheen C.K (2) battled his way past Sparsh Kolwalkar winning 15-3, 15-6.
In the U-15 girls singles pre quarters, Aarohi Coutoncar (1) defeated Sanvi Audi 15-10, 15-8 while Ritika Chelluri (2) registered a 15-5, 15-2 win over young rising talent Avni Kyalia.
In other significant results, Yash Desai, seeded 2, defeated Siddharth Hazra 15-3, 15-8; Devesh Goel defeated Nihal Savoikar 15-8, 15-7 and Soham Naik defeated Parasmay Shenoy 15-12, 12-15, 15-10 in the U-17 Boys Pre Quarters.
In the U-17 Girls Pre Quarters, Aadya Chaurasia defeated Priyanka Karcal 15-13, 15-13 and Lakshita Sawal defeated Atmaja Shetty 15-11, 15-10. The tournament has been organised by BPS Sports Club under the aegis of Goa Badminton Association and the Sports Authority of Goa and is one of the Selection tournaments to shortlist probables for the upcoming Sub Junior, Junior and Senior Nationals.
