PANJIM: Aaryavrat Rasiket Naik Desai and Saeeja Gunesh Dessai bagged the first place in the Open Boys and Girls Category respectively in the late Shri Dattaram Dhuri (freedom fighter) Memorial Goa State U-13 Open and Girls Championship/Selection 2024 organised by Bardez Taluka Chess Association under the auspices of Goa Chess Association, at DM’s PVS SM Kushe Higher Secondary School and Institute of Vocational Studies’ gymkhana hall, Assagao, recently.
Saras Summer Powar secured the second place, while Kanishk Sagar Sawant bagged the third place in open category.
Erwin Albuquerque, Chopdekar Aarav, Vihaan Tari, Atharva Atul Borkar, Joshua Mark Telles, Shirodker Arthav and Sachit Pai secured the fourth to 10th place respectively.
Vaishnavi Vijay Parab got the second place and Lyia Marysil Silveira got the third place in girls category. Skyla Rodrigues, Rachel Pereira, Israa Rikarty, Sequeira Jennica, Diya Digamber Sawal, Siddhi Naik and Rodrigues Shinel secured the fourth to tenth place respectively in girls category.
Other prizes awarded in open category: Shaurya Prabhu Agrasani and Shubh Vishnu Borkar (1st and 2nd place). In U-11 category – Gawas Rishit and Shrsth Suraj Ghonsekar (1st & 2nd place). In U-9 category – Prayank Gaonkar and Evan Antonio Telles (1st & 2nd place). In U-7 category – Hriday Tukaram Morajkar and Raunak Lingudkar were awarded Bardez Players of the tournament and Aarush Naik Parulekar was awarded as the youngest players in open category,
In the girls category, prizes were awarded to Rochel Pereira and Diya Naik (1st & 2nd place). In U-11 category – Redkar Shanvi and Avani Sawaikar (1st & 2nd place). In the U-9 category – Rao Shivanya and Aaradhya Dessai (1st & 2nd place). In U-7 category – Aaradhya Rane and Krutika Aggarwal were awarded Bardez Players of the tournament. Swasti Nitin Morajkar and Yajwari Tukaram Shetye were awarded as the youngest players in the girls category.

Sudhakar Patgar, Sanskriti Naroji and Snehal Suraj Naik (assistant arbiters). Vishwas Pilankar proposed a vote of thanks. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Rajaram Narvekar, principle of DMS Higher Secondary School.
