PANJIM: ABC Sports Club, Arambol, defeated St Savio Sports Club, Calangute, 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi- finals of 23rd Vagator Soccer tournament at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club ground, Friday.
The teams were level 1-1 at full time. Arambol scored the opening goal in the 9th minute as a long ranger from Reneil D’Mello from the left flank was converted by Cyprian Rodrigues with a header.
St.Savio scored the equalizer in the 20th minute as a 25-yard free kick by Alber Gonsalves was flicked in by Pedro Gonsalves giving no chance to Calangute goalkeeper Cydon D’souz.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Manuel, Dalwin, Jordan, Reniel and Arun scored for Arambol. Only Pedro, Jovito, Richard and Tannay converted for St Savio.
The man-of-the match prize was awarded to Vivek Kanulkar of ABC by Sudesh Parsekar.
