PANJIM: Joaquim Abranches will lead the State football team for the for the West Zone Santosh Trophy National football championship which will be held from September 22-30, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
The State squad comprises of: Jason D’Mello (Salgaocar SC), Melroy Fernandes (Sporting Clube de Goa), Ozen Silva (Guardian Angel SC) – (goalkeepers); Brian Faria ( FC Goa), Mathew Gonsalves (Dempo SC), Clemente Joseph (Sporting Clube de Goa), Clive Miranda (Sporting Clube de Goa), Sawson Pereira (Salgaocar FC), Leslie Rebello (FC Goa) (under-20) – defenders; Ribhav Sardesai (Salgaocar SC) (under-20), Samuel Costa Salgaocar SC), Velito Cruz (Dempo SC), Chaitan Komarpant (Salgaocar FC) (under-20), Moses D’Sa (Calangute Association), Stendly Fernandes (Sporting Clube de Goa) (under-20), Dewson Fernandes (Calangute Association) (under-20) – midfielders; Joaquim Abranches (Dempo SC) (captain), Devendra Murgaonkar (Salgaocar FC), Aaren D’Silva (FC Goa), Olvin Cardoza (Sesa FA) – strikers.

The selected players should report to coach Levino on Monday, September 16 at 3 p.m. at Duler Stadium, Mapusa. The 10 players who have been released from today can participate now in the inter-club/inter-village tournaments.
Goa will take on Rajasthan on September 23, Madhya Pradesh on September 25 and Dadra and Nagar Haveli on September 27.
Meanwhile, clubs and others interested in rendering services as volunteers or in any other capacity for the conduct of the championship have been requested to contact Lavinio Rebello, deputy chairman of organising committee or Greg D’Sousa, organising secretary or John Fernandes or Dominic Pereira or Minguel Gonsalves in Mapusa.
