PONDA: Adhira Akerkar remained unbeaten in all five games to emerge champion in the chess tournament organised by the Ponda Taluka Chess Association at Shree Ram Temple, Karmale-Keri, Ponda, recently.
Digvijay Gaude secured second position while, Tanish Gaude bagged the third place. Shrivardhan Kerkar and Vedangi Gaude finished at the fourth and fifth position respectively.
Earlier, an 8-day chess coaching camp was conducted wherein 25 students took part.
Chief guest Ponda Taluka Chess Association President Sagar Sakordekar was the chief guest. Anand Kerkar, teacher of Dr KB Hedgewar High School and Director of VPK Co-Operative Credit Society and Anand Kurtiker, chess coach and executive member of Ponda Taluka Chess Association were also present.
Keri Panchayat took initiative to organise this camp. Pratik Gaude was the assistant coach, while Nivyanka Khandekar compered.
