Aditee steals limelight at Rotary chess

PANJIM: Aditee Prabhugaonkar emerged champion scoring 8.5 points in nine rounds and remaining unbeaten in the Rotary All Goa Open Rapid Chess Tournament 2015 organised by Rotary Club of Margao along with Salcete Taluka Chess Association at Nehru Stadium conference hall, Fatorda, recently.

Aditee outsmarted second seed Ameya Audi while Ameya finished at the fifth position. Aditee is amongst the few girls to win an open rapid chess tournament as the 10th seed. 
Anirudh Parsekar triumph over WCM Swera Braganza to bag the second place while Nandini Saripalli drew with Saiesh Audi to finish third. 
Swera Braganza stood fourth. Aishwarya Thorat won against Aryan Raiker to finish seventh. 
Other results:  Sanjay Thorat (eight), Alaina Pereira (Ninth) and Saish Fondekar (10th).
Other prizes in age group categories: Under-7 boys — Joy Kakodkar. Girls — Netra Sawaikar. Under-9 boys — Jugan Rodrigues. Girls — Calantha Gomes. Under-11 boys Devesh Naik. Girls — Vibhuthi Desai. Under-13 boys Vasant Borkar. Girls — Ananya Pandye. Under-15 boys — Aniket Prabhu. Girls — Neshmi Metri. Best Player Salcete taluka: Ayush Shirodkar, Ashesh Keni and Vraj Porob.
Chief guest Fatorda Constituency MLA Vijay Sardesai congratulated the players and the organisers  and gave away the prizes in the presence of Rajiv Naik, president of Rotary Club of Margao; Ashesh Keni, president Salcete Taluka Chess Association; Shailesh Sawardekar, treasurer, RCM; Prashant Naik, Damodar Zambaulikar, Secretary STCA; chief arbiter Sanjay Kavlekar and others.
Trophies and cash prizes were distributed long with the certificates.
