PANJIM: Aditi Chodankar, Simran Kubal, Taniya Patil and Sanisha Shetye stormed into the semi-finals of under-16 sub junior girls category of Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Table Tennis Championship 2017 underway at the Polygon Hall, Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias premises, Miramar, on Tuesday.
In the quarter-finals, Aditi defeated Janvi Naik Dalal 11-5, 11-2, 11-4. Simran outplayed Sneha Mesta 11-7, 9-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8. Taniya over powered Najida Sheikh 11-9, 11-2, 11-3 whereas Sanisha defended her position by winning against Aalya Arora 11-8, 11-9, 11-4.
Diya Sen overpowered Tanisha Parsekar 11-6, 10-12, 11-8, 10-12, 11-8 while Stuti Shivani pushed through and defeated Galya Fernandes 11-8, 11-2, 11-9 to secure their spot. The semi-finals will held on July 1.
In the U-18 junior girls category, Simran Kubal won against Sawani Sawaikar 11-6, 10-12, 11-8, 10-12, 11-8 in a hard fought battle.
Prutha Parrikar beat Utkarsha Shiwani 11-5, 11-2, 11-9 with sheer determination amidst the cheer of family and friends.
In the U-12 cadet boys and girls categories, Shantesh Mapsekar will meet Aaron Colaco in the final while Senha Mestra will compete against Anushri Naik for girls title.
