MAPUSA: After playing their hearts out, Daman and Diu were left shattered following an injury time goal from Maharashtra’s second half substitute Advait Shinde in the West Zone Santosh Trophy Qualifiers at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Sunday.
Maharashtra dominated the entire first half but had to wait until the injury time to score and grab full points.
Maharashtra had the first real chance early in the game when Yash Matre was found by Nachiket Palav but the former couldn’t keep his composure in the box.
Yash purely didn’t have luck this time as his well executed header from the box hit the crossbar and came back into the play. This time it was Aman Gaikwad who provided the cross.
Despite playing a high pressing game, the first half proved to be a drab draw.
The match winner was scored in the 90+ 3rd minute through Advait Shinde to give Maharashtra full points.
