SANTA CRUZ: Temptation, Tonca-Miramar downed Quepem Veterans, Salcete 3-1 to lift the the All Goa 50 + veterans football Cup organised by Jolly Boys Sports Club, Santa-Cruz, at St. Agostinho ground, Santa-Cruz, recently.
In the first half, Quepem’s Charles D’Costa scored the first goal in the 15th minute. Temptation’s Pascoal Pereira former national Dempo player equalised before the interval.
In the second half, Temptation’s Anthony Fernandes gave a pass to Prakash Chari who within no minute scored another goal.
Derrick Pereira missed a golden opportunity to score a goal as he missed the target.
Thereafter, Prakash Chari scored the third goal making it 3-1.
Before the veterans match, there was an inter-ward football exhibition match where Joseph Cardozo’s team beat the U-14 boys of Santa-Cruz 3-1.
The winners were awarded Rs 25,000 plus trophy from Sarpanch of Santa-Cruz Mariano de Araujo and Zenito Cardozo (social worker) in the presence of Mariano Ricardo Araujo, President of Jolly Boys Club, Melwin Gonsalves (Former international player), Vincent Cardozo, Antonio Araujo, Frazer Ligorio Oliveiro, Agnelo Fernandes, Lawerence Anes and other dignitaries.
