RAIA: Agnelo Colaco scored the all-important goal for Rosary Boys, Davorlim, against hosts Our Lady of Fatima Boys in the final to clinch the Our Lady of Fatima Cup 2024 organised by Our Lady of Fatima Sports and Cultural Club, at Our Lady of Fatima ground, Baida-Chinchinnim, recently.
On the occasion of Our Lady of Fatima festival mood, the final was played in front of large crowd. In the beginning, both teams showed urgency to score goals and it was Agnelo Colaco who opened the scoreline for Rosary Boys in the 10th minute of play with neat placement. Immediately, Fatima Boys’ Segmond missed the opportunity to level the terms before half time.

In the second session, Fatima Boys tried to attack the Rosary Boys defence and came close to scoring goals but their strikers Danil and Larson missed the opportunities in 35th and 44th minute. Rosary Boys’ Milton and Delton also missed opportunities.
In the dying minutes of the game, Fatima Boys tried hard to level the score but Rosary Boys defence of Piedade, Sanju and Shail remained firm and denied the equaliser till the final whistle.
Our Lady of Fatima Sports and Cultural Club also felicitated the SCCE toppers from the village.
Velim MLA Cruz Silva was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of international footballer Liston Colaco, Fr Alex D’Souza, parish priest of Chinchinnim church; Fr Christopher Fernandes, Sarpanch Valentino Barreto, Sabrina Dias, Treasure Dulcina Pereira, panch members, club members and other dignitaries.
The following prizes were awarded: First scorer Agnelo Colaco (Rosary Boys, Davorlim), best defender Sanju Trikonni (Rosary Boys, Davorlim), best discipline team La Grace, best goalkeeper Selwin dias (Rosary Boys, Davorlim).
