PANJIM: AIFF president, Kalyan Chaubey, through a letter to all State Associations has appealed to former football players to render their services with their inputs and get involved in the Indian football structure in some official capacity.
“We need a big pool of former players to turn as scouts and even coaches for the growth of football at the basic level,” stated the former goalkeeper.
” I, myself being a former goalkeeper, know the challenges that some of ex-players face with the system. After much thought and consultations, I have decided to engage the highest number of ex-players who are interested in being part of the football structure,” stated the AIFF chief.
The AIFF’s strategy is to have nearly 3.5 lakh active coaches by 2026. For that the Federation will have coach instructors, competition coaches, coach education programmes with the focus being on player development in every State.
” I would be glad if you can offer your services as scouts in your location and if you have the ambition to become a coach, I can make a plan to make arrangements for the training and engagement for the game,” added Kalyan.
