AGENCIES, NEW DELHI: Aizawl FC will take on defending champions Bengaluru FC in the inaugural match of the Federation Cup on April 30, in Aizawl.
Mohun Bagan, who won the Federation Cup for a record 13 times will face the Goan outfit Salgaocar FC, who were champions four times, the last in 2011.
Having narrowly escaped relegation, Shillong Lajong FC take on mighty East Bengal while Mumbai FC, who ended the season on a high with victory against their Maha rivals will face Sporting Clube de Goa.
The top eight teams as per the standings of the Hero I-League will be playing in the knock-out format on a home and away basis including the semi-finals with the final match being slated to be played at a neutral venue.
As per the regulations of the tournament, the lower ranked teams (as per the standings of the Hero I-League) are to play their home match first.
