Francis Andrade stuck twice with three assists and was the hero of the match for Margao SC.
In the first half, Margao SC took the lead through Francis as he just lobbed the ball over the out of position Betalbatim SC goalkeeper of a short pass by Minguel Barretto in the very 6th minute.
Austin Fernandes floated a ball to Travis Barretto of Betalbatim SC in the 8th minute at one shot but to his dismay Margao SC goalkeeper saved it.
In the second half, Betalbatim SC started well and equalized 1-1 through Austin’s placement shot off Travis’ supply in the 50th minute.
But Betalbatim SC fell behind when Francis doubled the lead scored for Margao SC in the 60th minute off Cliff Barretto pass.
On Sunday, Cuncolim Union blanked St Rock YC, Majorda 2-1 to cruise into the quarter-finals.
Cuncolim Union dominated both the session, with Daulat Dessai and Dilip Velip tormenting the St Rock YC defence. Daulat served the ball on the platter to Dilip Velip in the 6th minute inside the box of St Rock YC but the latter shot wide.
Thereafter, St Rock YC’s Mathew Colaco header missed the Cuncolim Union net in the 10th minute.
In the 15th minute, Mathew opened the scoring for St Rock YC. Daulat’s long ranger kissed the upfront of St Rock YC and went out of play in the 16th minute.
After the lemon break, Daulat came in with a firing power and in the 48th minute with his left-footer fired a venous strike but the rival defender blocked. This time Dilip equalised 1-1 for Cuncolim Union in the 60th minute.
Star of the match Daulat scored the match winner for Cuncolim Union in the 65th minute.
