Ajay and Ayan run to glory

PANJIM: Ajay Vishwakarma and Ayan Soares stole the limelight in the U-18 boys and girls school run category at the Mala Monsoon Run organized by YUVA, Panjim, recently.

The 3km run for fun started from Mushtifund Middle School, Mala coursing through Heritage Panjim, Rua De Ourem and ended at Fonte Pheonix (Mala Spring) wherein more than 400 athletes participated. 
Ajay from Mapusa clocked 9:02 mins. Second place Teddy Cardozo (RCC Agassaim) 9.14mins and third place Derrick Barboza (RCC Fatorda) 9.24mins.
Ayan, RCC Fatorda, finished in 13.20mins time. Second place A.K. Simran 15.03mins and third place Pooja Madgaonkar 17.05mins.
In the Open Run, U-18 male, first three places were bagged by Suraj Bind (MES College, Vasco), second place Ajay Kumar Bind (MES College, Vasco) and third place Birendra Kushwha (Signals).
In U-18 female, Davita Diniz (RCC Fatorda) finished first with 11:58mins, second place Pooja Nataraj 18:46mins and third place Samanta Fernandes 18:48mins.
Earlier, the run was flagged off by Panjim Constituency MLA Sidharth Kuncalienker in the presence of Dr Rufino Monteiro, president-YUVA; Paresh Kamat, secretary, Goa Athletic Association; Sitaram Naik, OSD to chief minister; Milind Shankhwalkar, Midway; Narayanrao Nagvekar, Midway, Mihir Agshikar and Ashok Patil. 
Chief guest Brig. S.K. Agarwal gave away the prizes and certificates of participation. 
Also present were Sitaram Naik, Mihir Agshikar, Paresh Kamat, secretary, Goa Athletic Association; Dattaram (Babu) Kamat, president, Goa Kabaddi Association, Umesh Madkaikar and Prashant Naik.
