PANJIM: Former State champion Ajit Ghatkar defeated Deepak Gopani 11-5, 12-10, 11-7 to clinch the top spot in 40 to 50 category of late Shantabai Dhond memorial veterans table tennis ranking tournament at Indoor Stadium, Campal, here, Sunday.
Meanwhile, Arun Naik defeated Anand Naik 11-4, 11-7, 11-8 in the Group B 50-60 years category finals while Kuldeep Kabadi defeated Kashinath Khalap 11-7, 10-12, 11-9, 5-11, 11-7 in the Group C above 60 category.
Vero Nunes president GTTA gave away the prizes in the presence of Gaurish Dhond, Adv. Ajit Kantak, Prakash Alfonso, Suresh Karapurkar and Uday Divekar. Rajan Naik proposed the vote of thanks.
Earlier, Deputy mayor of CCP Bento Lorena inaugurated the tournament in the presence of Vero Nunes and Gaurish Dhond.
