PANJIM: Akshat Hadkonkar from Don Bosco High School, Panjim is the only Goan footballer to be selected in the Star Sports Young Heroes U-15 football event that has selected 16 talented youngsters to train at Las Rozas Sports City, Spain under youth coaches of Real Madrid and the Spanish federation. They will leave the country on April 15 for a 10-day training programme.
Jamshid Nassiri, Ex- Iranian Footballer and Head Mentor, Star Sports Young Heroes was present to share his expert advice and encourage the boys on their journey ahead.
Young Heroes promoted by Star Sports along with Parle Products and IDBI Federal life Insurance is aimed to provide guidance and a platform to under-15 footballers from over 650 schools across 15 cities in India.
Young Heroes aims to widen the base of the Indian football pyramid by identifying young talent from the country’s largest student direct contact programme from the very grassroots and provide guidance for the next step towards elite football.
The tournament activation programme which is being conducted by Highlife Management reached out to about 420,000 students and from the tournament population of about 6,500 footballers.
