PANAJI: Akshay Vengurlekar scored a match-winning innings to help VM Salgaocar College of Law score a 23-run victory over Vidya Prabodhini Porvorim in the 4th VM Salgaocar Memorial Inter-Collegiate T-10 Cricket Tournament finale, played at Goa University ground, Bambolim, recently.
Batting first, an in-form Akshay Vengurlekar (40 runs) helped VM Salgaocar College of Law post 140/5, setting up a 105-run target for Vidya Prabodhini Porvorim. Akshay was ably supported by Rahul (16 runs) and Sahil (15 runs).
In reply, VM Salgaocar College of Law’s disciplined bowling unit restricted Vidya Prabodhini Porvorim to 81/7 in their allotted 10 overs.
VM Salgaocar College of Law’s Akshay Vengurlekar was adjudged man of the match as well as man of the tournament while Vaibhav Bandekar (VM Salgaocar College of Law) and Vidya Prabodhini Porvorim’s Triroy Kubal were adjudged best bowler and batsman of the tournament respectively.
Former Goa Advocate General Dattaprasad Lawande was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Dr MRK Prasad, VM Salgaocar College of Law principal; Dr Sahadev Mandrekar, VM Salgaocar College of Law PE Director; Vipul Phadke, Goa Cricket Association secretary; Anant Mandrekar and Lavoo Govekar, VM Salgaocar College of Law officials and VM Salgaocar College of Law’s student organising team.
