Albert Developers down Chapora YS

MAPUSA: Albert Developers fought gallantly to register a hard fought 3-2 win over Chapora YS in the GFA’s First Division League-North Zone, held at Parra ground, here, on Thursday.

Albert Developers went into the breather with a goal cushion through Newton Azevedo’s header off Rajat Chopdekar’s cross in the very 5th minute of play.

Chapora YS colts than missed couple of scoring chances in the first session through Cyprian Rodrigues and Sachiananda Satelkar

Chapora YS came back strong on crossing ends, where they levelled terms in the 60th minute from a self goal from Albert’s defender Shankar Gaonkar, 1-1. Just five minutes later substitute Saprem Diukar sent a defense splitting pass to over lapping Sachianand Satelkar who stabbed the ball past Albert goalkeeper Glenn Fernandes, 2-1.

Never say die spirit saw Albert Developers not only level terms in the 81st minute through an individual brilliancy from Joel Fernandes, with Rajat Chopdekar giving finishing touches to Vihar Kholkar goal in the 84th minute of play, 3-2.

On Wednesday, Clube Sao Minguel de Taleigao fought gallantly to hold their rivals St Savio’s SC, Calangute to a 1-1 draw.

St. Savio’s that had won their first league match against Albert Developers started earnestly and after much probing finally saw Andrus John score in the 39th minute on entering the 18-yard box 1-0.

On crossing over Taleigao colts playing their first league match time and again attacked the rival citadel in search of the equalizer where in the 53rd minute Niyaz Tambak dribbled past a host of rival defenders and drove a power packed right footer into the goal 1-1.
